A closely fought competitive encounter saw Thurnham have the better of the opening stages, Steve Warren chipped the keeper from outside the box narrowly missing and Michael Fuller outstretched failing to connect were probably the best chances. A disputed penalty gave Lenham the lead after which the home side took more control, adding a second shortly with a well worked goal and good finish, keeper Perry with little chance.
Looking set at 2-0, the game almost turned in minutes, Justin Taylor out wide on the left with no options against all odds carved out a cross, first shot was initially saved, it was sub Dean Hodgson with back to goal turning 180 degrees to slam home. Within a minute it was Dean again winning a penalty, but failed to convert. Either side could have added goals but Lenham remained 2-1 ahead at the final whistle.
Unlucky not get get something from this game, we must look forward to a rematch with Wheatsheaf.
