Thurnham had their best team performance of the season to beat a resilient Wheatsheaf Celtic. First period saw well taken goals from both Michael Fuller and Steve Warren (great finish Mike and nicely controlled & placed by Mr Warren!) being the only reward from countless opportunities, the best of these being Dean Hodgson, who had a great game, hitting the crossbar from close range and Gavin Cole from outside the box also denied by the woodwork.
Second period Thurnham looked likely to add to their tally, but were unlucky not to get a third, with chances falling to Abie Driver and Jurgen Ahmetaj, among others. Paul Wilkins (former Thurnham player) was solid as always, but busy in the Celtic goal, but Wheatsheaf never gave up and finished strongly in the later stages coming close on several occassions, the best chance being cleared off the line by Dean Hodgson, but Thurnham continued to threaten on the break, while holding the back line, great performance from Andy Lind also. Three wins in four games now, Thurnham believe they have turned the corner.
