Neither RKP or Thurnham had started the season well so a key match in which Thurnham looked the more likely to score early on, with chances falling to Steve Warren (that's guys got pace) and Abie Driver. Dan Evans was brought down (actually taken out) in the box, a strong penalty call was dismissed, never recovering shortly after Dan was forced to retire following that injury. RKP looked fast on the break, threatened but were limited in chances, a second injury to James Makepeace required a further substitution for Thurnham and reorganisation.
.
Despite their league positive RKP looked relatively comfortable at the back and the keeper equal to everything thrown at him.
Second half opportunities came at both ends although as the game progressed a single goal looked likely to decide the outcome. With 20 minutes left on the clock a cross into the box found Justin Taylor loose at the far post, with a free header the points were going to Thurnham. There was still time for a scare at the other end or adding a second but 1 - 0 it remained a probably a fair result.
.
Notable debut for the youngster Ryan Luck who impressed in midfield and was quickly involved causing the RKP defence problems at time. But my Man of the Match always controlled, with excellent lay-offs and exceptional tackles at full back was Ryan Charman.
.
Not a classic, but a hard fought 3 points to get the campaign moving, we have played better in spells earlier this season and will improve on this, so there's only one way to go from here.
